Iranian New year celebration.
The symbolic dishes consist of sabzeh, or sprouts, usually wheat or lentil,representing re-birth. Samanu is a pudding in which common wheat sprouts are trasformed and given new life as a sweet, creamy pudding, and represents the ultimate sophistication of Persian cooking. Sib meas apple and repesents health and beauty. Senjed, the sweet, dry fruit of the lotus tree, represents love. Seer, which is garlic in Persin, represens medicine.Somaq, sumac berries, represent the colour of sunrise; the appearance of the sun Good conquers Evil.Serkeh,or vinegar represents age and patience. A basket of painted eggs represents fertility. A goldfish in a bowl of water represents life and the end of the astral year-Pisces. Hyacinth or naracissus.A mirror. Two candelabra with candles representing enlightenmnet and happiness. A copy of Koran and a volume of the poems of Hafez.A few coins placed on the Sofreh represents prosperity and wealth.
Especially, Marjor's dish "coco" kind of quishe was great. Thanks for all Iranian people who prepared for today's tea morning.
